“Curious Souls Get Together” – 7th meeting

Dear Curious Souls,

We had our 7th “Curious Souls Get Together” meeting at Publico bar on September 5,2013.  We had once again, a very interesting and enjoyable meeting. I would like to thank everybody who participated our meeting and contributed to our discussions.

As you will remember, the theme of our meeting was “Architecture and its impact on our lives.”

First, we watched a short video briefly explaining what architecture was:

Then we watched the following TED Talks:

Bjarke Ingels:“3 warp-speed architecture tales”

Cameron Sinclair: “Open source architecture.”

At our meetings, we usually have interesting variety of subjects apart from the main theme. These can include beautiful musical performances, mind altering magical shows or even things that are totally unheard of.

So during this meeting too,  we had a very interesting and humorous talk to watch! It was about the styles of great musical conductors. We simply loved watching it 🙂

Itay Talgam: “Lead like the great conductors.”

These were all the videos we watched and discussed  during our meeting. Nevertheless, architecture is such a vast subject that we could hardly cover any aspect of it in depth. So, upon the desire expressed by several of our participants, we may hold another about the same topic – to discuss it a bit more in depth.

In the meantime,  I would like to share with you some other TED talks that I enjoy very much and learn a lot on architecture. You might as well enjoy watching them:

Thomas Heatherwick: Building the Seed Cathedral.”

[ted id=1147 lang=tr]

Doris Kim Sung: “Metal that breathes.”

[ted id=1598 lang=tr]

David Byrne: “How Architecture Helped Music Evolve.”

[ted id=883 lang=tr]

Janet Echelman: “Taking imagination seriously”

[ted id=1164 lang=tr]

William Mcdonough: “Cradle to cradle design.”

[ted id=104 lang=tr]

Marcus Du Sautoy: “Symmetry reality.”

[ted id=670 lang=tr]

Nathanial Kahn: “On my architect”

[ted id=506 lang=tr]

This is all about our 7th meeting. I must say that organising these meetings started like a fun for me but turned out to be a real learning experience. While trying select which TED Talks I’d like to show you during our meetings, I discover so many others and   learn so much from them, that I have to thank you, dear Curious Souls, for opening this way and  leading me to this journey 🙂

I thank you all for participating and I hope to see you soon at our next meeting.

Best regards

Isil the Curious Soul 🙂
