Please note that currently there is an exhibition at TURVAK Museum where we will have our 13th meeting tomorrow. The title of the exhibition is: “100 years of Turkish Cinema through 100 illustrations.”

The museum is already a very beautiful place and with this interesting exhibition, we will have added advantages 🙂

Some of you may wish to visit the museum only and not participate in our Curious Souls meeting. If you do so, then the museum will apply a special discounted ticket rate of only 5 TL, valid for our group. (For those of you who cannot visit the museum but will participate in our meeting, there is no change in the fee.) So it may be a good occasion bring interested friends and family members.

The venue is very easy to find: just walk up to Galatasaray roundabout on Istiklal street (approx. midway) then walk down from Yeniçarşı street (Galatasaray highschool should be on your left) up to number 24 on your right. TURVAK Museum is there.

TURVAK Cinema Theatre Museum

Dear Curious Souls,

I am very happy to announce you that the venue of our 13th meeting will be “TURVAK Cinema and Theatre Museum.” It is very centrally located in Taksim Beyoglu and it is the first and only museum of its kind in Turkey!

The museum was founded by Türker Inanoglu who is called as “Mr.Cinema” in Turkey because of his invaluable contributions to cinema. The museum houses more than 1000 cinema and television devices, 4200 copies of various Turkish films, more than 6000 Turkish film posters, more than 10.000 film and stage photographs, and over 12.000 hours of TV programs and TV series in its collection.

On March 1,2015, on Sunday, we will first have a guided tour of the museum in English, and, following that, while we still breathe history, we will proceed to the terrace floor, get our tea/coffee and cookies and, amidst a magnificient view of Istanbul that will accompany us, we will start watching and discussing interesting TED Talks.

It is a fantastic way to pass a lazy Sunday afternoon! Don’t you think?
